On 16 December, Movento, the official Mercedes-Benz dealership within the private mobility division of Moventia, hosted the third edition of its ‘Nit Solidària’ charity gala, aimed at raising funds for childhood cancer research and treatment at the SJD Pediatric Cancer Center Barcelona at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu.
This year, the event attracted over 285 guests to the Movento Stern dealership in Sabadell, cementing its place as one of Catalonia’s leading charity events. Once again, the goal was to raise as much as possible for children and young people battling cancer. With a record-breaking total of €50,230 raised, the evening was a huge success.
The event came together thanks to the generous support of Moventia, Movento Stern, Mercedes-Benz Empresas, Jubany, Cavas Vilarnau and GPU. The presence of Reiner Hoeps, president of Mercedes-Benz Spain, underscored the strong commitment from the business community to this important cause.
The evening was hosted by the charismatic Llucià Ferrer, who guided the guests through an emotional and inspiring programme. Highlights of the night included stunning performances from Antonio Orozco, Joan Dausà, Beth and Miki, all Movento Stern ambassadors, who moved the crowd with a selection of their most beloved songs. Guests were also treated to a one-of-a-kind culinary experience from acclaimed chef Nandu Jubany, adding to the unforgettable atmosphere.
As the evening drew to a close, representatives from Movento Stern, Moventia and Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, along with Antonio Orozco and Nandu Jubany, revealed the total amount raised. This significant sum will provide crucial funding to continue advancing research and treatments for childhood cancer, as explained by the medical centre’s team.
As expressed by Miquel Martí, Chairman of Moventia: “It’s an honour to gather once again for such a meaningful cause. The incredible work of Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, a leader in paediatric cancer treatment, inspires us to keep pushing for the well-being of the youngest among us. At Moventia, our commitment to society and our sense of solidarity have been at the heart of our work for over 100 years”.
Miquel Martí Pierre, CEO of Movento, emphasised the significance of the event: “This third edition of the ‘Nit Solidària’ reinforces our ongoing commitment to Hospital Sant Joan de Déu and the families affected by this harsh reality. Watching the support grow year after year inspires us to continue pushing forward with more initiatives like this”.
Joaquim Badia, manager of Movento Stern, reflected on the success of the evening: “The ‘Nit Solidària’ has become a highlight of the Christmas season. The enthusiasm and generosity of everyone involved fill us with gratitude and motivate us to continue doing our part in this vital cause”.
Finally, Manel del Castillo, managing director of Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, expressed his heartfelt thanks: “Events like this are essential for our work. The generosity of companies like Movento Stern and Moventia, alongside the support of the wider community, makes it possible for us to keep moving forward with projects that change lives for our young patients. We are truly grateful”.
The ‘Nit Solidària’ brought together an impressive array of influential figures from culture, entertainment, gastronomy and sport. Among those already mentioned, the event was also graced by popular presenters Santi Millán, Carles Pérez and Gran Germán from the El Matí i la Mare que el Va Parir programme on Radio FlaixBac, actress and presenter Marta Torné, chef and host of Cuines on TV3 Marc Ribas and Lluc Cursellas, named the world’s best chocolatier in 2022.
The evening also welcomed key figures from the sporting world, led by a prominent delegation from FC Barcelona, along with Núria Picas, mountain runner and trail running expert, and Marta Marrero, professional padel player and co-founder of Aurial Padel, joined by Dani Oses and Jon Grau. The event was also attended by influencer María Vallespí and sports journalist Cristina Cubero.
The ‘Nit Solidària’ was part of a broader programme of charitable initiatives led by Movento Stern in 2024, under the slogan Ajudem a fer camí (Let’s help pave the way), in support of the SJD Pediatric Cancer Center Barcelona at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu. Ultimately, this was a landmark event that highlighted how the combined efforts of businesses, collaborators and society can make a real and positive impact. Thanks to the generosity and solidarity of all those involved, this gala continues to offer hope to those who need it most.
