Movento, the private mobility division of Moventia, has landed on the Balearic Islands as part of its expansion plan. This step was made possible by a strategic partnership with the Roxa Group, owned by the Rosselló family, a historic and prestigious business group operating in various sectors of the economy on the Balearic Islands.
The partnership was reached through the acquisition by Movento of a controlling stake in the dealerships for the brands owned by the VW group, which currently include VOLKSWAGEN, VOLKSWAGEN LCV, SEAT, CUPRA, SKODA, DAS WELTAUTO and the PROSERVICE spare parts agency.
Movento is part of Moventia, a century-old multinational benchmark in the mobility sector owned by the Martí family. The company, of which Miquel Martí Pierre is the CEO, is one of the leading dealership groups in Spain and currently represents nearly 20 brands. Those brands include Mercedes Benz (Movento Stern), Renault and Dacia (Movento Auser), Seat, Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and Cupra (Movento Sarsa), Hyundai (Motorprim Movento), and Land Rover and Jaguar (Movento Auto Pla Vic 4×4); as well as motorcycles with Honda (Movento Akaimoto) and the Renault Trucks repair service.
Coordinated by the consultancy firm FINAE, the agreement reached between Movento and the Roxa Group includes a diverse range of brands and services, including the exclusive sale of Volkswagen vehicles on the island of Mallorca (as well as Seat, Cupra and Skoda vehicles) at a total of eight dealerships, six of which are located in Palma and the other two in Manacor. Furthermore, Movento will now provide the official spare parts service for the group on the Balearic Islands, known as ‘ProService’, thereby consolidating its position as one of the main official distributors for the German company throughout Spain.
With an expected turnover of 700 million euros in 2024, Movento employs almost 1,000 professionals at over 40 work centres in the province of Barcelona. Last year, it sold a total of 27,000 vehicles and served 136,000 customers. This deal between the two companies represents the acquisition by Movento of part of the business owned by the Mallorcan family group that, in 2023, posted a turnover of 100 million euros, with 4,100 vehicles sold (new and used) and a workforce of 180 professionals.
“Strategically and seeing what the future of this sector likely holds in store, it is very important to join forces with a group like Movento in order to stay competitive in the long term and continue offering a service to our customers with the highest standards of quality”, said Joan Pla, CEO of the Roxa Group. “This partnership, and the projects it allows, will let us consolidate our leadership in the island market”, he added.
Miquel Martí Pierre, CEO of Movento, said “this partnership with the Roxa Group represents a significant push forward in the strategy for Movento as it allows us to enter a key market like the Balearic Islands and keep strengthening our position as one of the main motor vehicle distribution networks in Spain”. He went on to add that, “naturally, we are excited to take this step alongside a partner with strong roots and prestige on the islands”.
