Promoting a workplace in which professionals can feel valued, respected and enjoy the ability to access the same opportunities as one another regardless of their differences has been, is and will always be one of the most deep-rooted purposes within the corporate social responsibility strategy of Moventia.
An inclusive culture is an inherent part of the DNA at our company. We consider the variety of professional profiles in our workforce to be an added value and therefore steer our approach towards adopting an organisational culture that values and integrates diversity in all its forms and that offers an inclusive and accessible working environment for everyone, without ability prejudice. This helps us to foster an environment in which all voices are heard and valued while raising awareness about the importance of inclusion, thereby building an inclusive culture and a shared sense of belonging and confidence.
Moventia has developed numerous initiatives over its 100 years of history aimed at creating an accessible working environment for all and bringing mobility to everyone. A fine example of that commitment is the pioneering service provided by Moventis TCC over three decades ago when it won the tender from EMT to provide transport for people with reduced mobility. The company began by carrying paralympic athletes to and from the Barcelona ‘92 Olympic Games. Without a doubt, this unique and innovative service became a turning point for corporate awareness on inclusion and diversity in mobility, especially in terms of public transport. So much so in fact, that the company has steadily increased its fleet to meet demand for the service from 17 to 50 adapted vehicles for people with disabilities and carries almost 200,000 passengers a year via these special services.
Another of the challenges reflected by the Moventia culture has been its inclusion in the workplace of persons with disabilities, which takes place within the SOC Mobilitat consortium. Managing the Customer Support Centre and Information Management Centre of T-mobilitat since day one, Moventia has hired and integrated people with a range of different disabilities, supported and accompanied by the experience and lessons learned by the Integralia DKV Foundation in all the educational processes needed for the project teams. To date, the company target has been for 40% of the SOC Atenció Client workforce to be made up by people with disabilities.
The result from these initiatives gives us an integrated and consistent focus, under which our staff feel valued and part of the success enjoyed by the organisation. Despite that and despite the fact that an inclusive culture and the integration of profiles with disabilities are essential goals, we are aware that more work still needs to be done. This reality, and our strong opinion that integration and diversity are a driving force for innovation and growth, push us to continue fighting to achieve absolute integration and to serve as a model of change for other companies, showing them that an inclusive culture is essential for the sustainable and equal development of any organisation and society itself.
