Mobility solutions for a major sports event must emerge long before the first vehicle starts moving. They begin with information: with the ability to organise data, anticipate scenarios and convert a complex schedule into a precise, flexible and reliable operation. Whenever hundreds of teams, multiple venues and changing timetables needed to be coordinated over just a few days, technology no longer merely provides support but rather becomes a core part of the service.
This was the challenge that Moventis took up for the most recent edition of MIC Football, which was held from 31 March to 5 April on the Costa Brava (Girona). The challenge did not only lie in the scope of the event itself (482 teams, more than 100,000 players and participants, 60 pitches and around 1,200 matches) but also in converting that complexity into coordinated mobility.
Data at the core of the operation
In an operation of this magnitude, every schedule, every pitch, every hotel or last-minute change has a direct impact on the necessary transportation. With that in mind, the Systems Department drove a technological evolution aimed at automating, centralising and increasing the traceability of service management.
Via API-based digital integration, information was automatically received from the tournament, bookings were created and everything was visualised alongside allocations and statuses within a unified interface. This model allowed us to reduce manual tasks, minimise risks, boost scheduling speed and gain a centralised overview of all activity, something that is essential when working with hundreds of journeys a day.
Technology and a presence on the ground
On its own, technology cannot resolve a complex operation when it is not connected to the reality of the service. For that reason, support for the digital solution came from a direct presence by the Moventis team at the headquarters of the MIC organisers throughout the event. This proximity enabled fluid communication, improved service coordination and the operational response to be adapted to actual needs at any given time.
For Moventis Costa, this evolution meant reduced operational pressure, increased efficiency and a more solid information base. For the organisers and participating teams, it led to a more organised and reliable transport experience that was fully in line with the real pace of the event.
The operation for MIC Football 2026 reflects an increasingly significant concept: service quality depends just as much on operational capability as it does on the intelligence with which information is managed. At Moventis, we view mobility as an ecosystem in which vehicles, people, data and decisions must all be connected. Moving a large-scale international tournament not only consists of ferrying teams from one place to another but also in anticipating, coordinating and converting information into efficient, safe and quality mobility.
