Moventis Autobusos de Lleida strengthens city bus fleet with three new electric vehicles
20 January 2026
The new silent, comfortable and accessible vehicles have been designed to improve the public transport user experience. The mayor stressed that this commitment forms part of a clear strategy from the city aimed at improving air quality, reducing noise pollution and shifting towards a healthier, more amenable urban model.

The Mayor of Lleida, Fèlix Larrosa, presided over an unveiling event that was also attended by Cristina Morón, 3rd Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Security, Mobility and Citizenship; José Crespín, Deputy Central Government Representative in Lleida; and Sergi Gimeno, Head of the City Council Public Works Department. Juan Giménez, Managing Director of Moventis, and Carlos Soldevilla, Manager of Moventis Autobusos de Lleida, attended the event on behalf of the company.

During the course of the event, the mayor also said that the inclusion of these new vehicles “represents a major step forward in the city’s commitment to more sustainable, efficient and environmentally friendly mobility”. The new buses will replace older diesel vehicles and lead to reductions in fuel pollution, noise pollution and environmental impact. At present, the city bus fleet in Lleida consists of 52 vehicles in total. A large number of those buses already have more sustainable propulsion systems, such as the hybrid and electric vehicles. With the addition of these three new buses, almost 50% of the fleet now has sustainable environmental labels.

The new silent, comfortable and accessible vehicles have been designed to improve the public transport user experience. The mayor stressed that this commitment forms part of a clear strategy from the city aimed at improving air quality, reducing noise pollution and shifting towards a healthier, more amenable urban model.

The project also forms part of a process to define the new Autobusos de Lleida Network, which seeks to become more efficient, clearer and more accessible while adapting to the real needs of the public and encouraging the use of public transport as a fundamental pillar of urban mobility. Moventis is therefore strengthening its commitment to the implementation and management of such new services.

Over the next few months, Lleida City Council intends to continue making progress on the gradual replacement of vehicles in this fleet. A tender for four more electric buses is expected later this year under the Integrated Local Development Strategies programme (EDIL), as well as the installation of four new charging points.

By incorporating these zero-emissions vehicles, Moventis Autobusos de Lleida is boosting its leadership in sustainable urban mobility by consolidating its role in the modernisation of public transport and construction of a more efficient city model that is eco-friendly and aimed at public wellbeing.
