Moventia attended the annual accountability session for Aigües de Sabadell during an event focused on water efficiency and responsible management of regional resources. The company shared its experience in the use of reclaimed water at its logistics centre in the city.
During the session titled Aigües de Sabadell Transparency Day, Josep Maria Balaguer, Facility Manager at Moventia, explained the progress made following more than a year of being connected to the reclaimed water network at the Sant Pau de Riu Sec operations base in Sabadell, a space of 24,000 m². “We are a company that is committed to sustainability and with a vested interest in protecting the environment and the circular economy”, he said.
The event, which reviewed the new environmental challenges and took stock of activity from the last year on projects being led by Aigües de Sabadell, such as ‘Sabadell Aigua Circular’, was attended by the Councillor for Ecological Transition, Sílvia Garcia, and representatives from the various company stakeholders.
Within this context of tangible measurements to encourage water efficiency, it should be noted that Moventia has successfully saved 8,000 m³ of drinking water in the last year, the equivalent of three Olympic-sized swimming pool, thereby significantly reducing its drinking water consumption. “95% of the water used at the logistics park comes from the reclaimed water network, with only a small percentage being used for sanitary purposes and other specific needs”, explained Josep Maria Balaguer.
In terms of the Sabadell Aigua Circular project, Josep Maria Balaguer underlined the excellent work being done and the benefits to be gained from the upcoming expansion of the network into such areas as Can Gambús. He said “this is a simple investment that, under the auspices of Aigües de Sabadell, will help to protect the environment and make use of circular water to save drinking water”. Through its involvement in this project, Moventia reaffirms its commitment to protecting the environment, the circular economy and responsible resource management while making an active contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals.
