The Human Resources Director of Moventia, Josefa Solanilla, took part on Thursday in the business event entitled “HR in Transformation: Between the AI Revolution and the Labour Framework” organised by elEconomista. As part of the event, Josefa took part in a round table discussion entitled ”The challenge of finding and keeping the best human talent” alongside Juan Puig, Head of Remuneration and Benefits at Howden Iberia, and Matías Bravo, HR Director at Novartis.
In her talk, the HR Director of Moventia stressed that human capital management within the current scenario is no longer a supporting role but has rather become the driving force for business competitiveness. She went on to recall that the labour market faces a paradigm shift in which attracting and keeping talent no longer depends on brilliant marketing campaigns but rather on constant verification by the market. “We attract less through what we say and much more through what employees and applicants manage to confirm about our real culture”, said the executive.
In this regard, she added that the challenge of attracting and keeping talent is not a matter of applicant shortages but rather a skill gap that the World Economic Forum describes as the principal barrier to transformation. With almost 40% of existing skills at risk of obsolescence by 2030, companies are not only looking for personnel but rather searching for people capable of reinventing their skills before the market forces them to do so. Within this context, the value proposal to employees must go beyond a competitive salary to stand on real flexibility and leadership that makes professional development visible.
Furthermore, Josefa presented some clear data on talent retention: most of the commitment from a team stems directly from their immediate supervisor. Unwanted staff turnover is therefore rarely solved with universal measures but rather through a surgical diagnosis and approachable leadership. “Talent does not only stick around because of what they earn, but rather due to the quality of their environment and the expectations for growth”, she said.
Finally, Josefa argued that the strategic priority for companies in the coming years should be to build organisations based on lifelong learning and trust. “Success is no longer only achieved in the external market but by reinforcing the organisation from within”, explained the HR Director of Moventia.
