Moventia boosts international expansion with first project in Ireland

Moventia continues to develop its global growth strategy by reaching Irish shores, strengthening its role as an international benchmark in mobility.

Moventia continues to develop its global growth strategy by reaching Irish shores, a new milestone that consolidates its presence in key markets and strengthens its role as an international benchmark in mobility. With over 100 years of history behind it, the group has developed a model based on innovation, sustainability and adaptation to the needs of each territory where it does business, taking part in strategic projects across Europe and in other international markets.

In this regard, Moventis TCC has signed a long-term agreement with Indra to provide training and support services to the operation of a Next Generation Ticketing (NGT) system for the Irish public transport network. This contract represents a key step in the international expansion of Moventia through its collective mobility division, providing its experience in efforts to modernise transportation and in advanced technology solutions capable of improving the user experience.

NGT is an ambitious project by the Irish National Transport Authority (NTA) that seeks to transform the ticket issue and payment system on the public transport network in the country. The goal is to transition over to an account-based ticketing system (ABT) that incorporates open payments via mobile devices and bank cards to offer a more modern and efficient user experience.

Under this agreement, Moventis TCC will support Indra on managing the ticket payment collection system for trams, buses, the national railway network and the future MetroLink in Dublin. Through its training and operation services, the company will help to develop and optimise Irish national ticketing technology. This step is a strategic move forward for Moventis TCC, consolidating its knowledge of contactless payment technologies and strengthening the experience it has already gained in integrated ticketing systems from its operations in the metropolitan area of Barcelona with SOC Mobilitat.

Júlia Farré, Head of Business Development at Moventis, highlighted the significance of this agreement for the group by saying “Our entry into the Irish market opens up new opportunities for us to keep growing and demonstrating our leadership in mobility. It is an exciting challenge that we have accepted with a commitment to offering efficient high-quality solutions.”
