Josep Maria Martí, the Chairman of Moventia, took part in the course entitled “Sustainable mobility as a challenge for the post-modern city” from 13 to 17 July in San Lorenzo de El Escorial as part of the Complutense University of Madrid Summer Courses.

More specifically, he took part in the round table discussion entitled “The past, present and future of passenger transport companies in Spain”, a session that gathered leaders from some of the top mobility companies in the country. The session was moderated by Manuel Dapena, Public Law Partner at DIKEI Abogados, and included representatives from such operators as Alsa, Arriva, FlixBus, Monbus, Vectalia and The Bus On Time, among others.

The debate provided a backdrop for sharing different perspectives on the transformation taking place in passenger transport and discussing the challenges being faced by companies within an environment characterised by new social demands, technological evolution and the need to shift towards more sustainable, efficient and competitive models.

The course also gathered other professionals, academics and institutional representatives to reflect on such topics as public-private partnerships, the mobility models of major metropolitan areas, the concession system, railways, taxis and vehicles for hire, logistics and the role of metros and trams.
